Abstract:
The surprising absence - with few exceptions - of writers' diaries in Spanish literature until well into the twentieth century may only be the most visible symptom of a Spanish characteristic: the discomfort that intimacy provokes. Saint Teresa, Jaime Gil de Biedma, Miguel Delibes, Rosa Chacel and Josep Pla are some of the many authors who can help us reflect upon this aspect of our culture. Keywords: INTIMACY; FRENCH LITERATURE; SPANISH LITERATURE; FEMALE CHARACTERS; DIARIES
